* As the successor to the Porsche 356, the prototype was first unveiled at the Frankfurt IAA Motor Show in 1963. It was originally given the title of 901. However, following Peugeot having claimed ownership of car designations with a “0” in the middle of three numbered titles, it was renamed as the 911 when it was launched to the market in 1964.
